A Review Of The Super IR Weatherproof Camera With Combination Receiver and SD Card DVR

By Christopher Winkler of EyeSpyPro.com

If you are looking for a way to record surveillance video at your home, office, or in the field, don't have a computer or DVR, are on a budget, and you only need one camera, there is a mini SD Card based DVR that can record one cameras video.

Let's face it, setting up a video surveillance system is not easy or cheap. You have to select your cameras, DVR, and you have to make them talk to each other. Also, some surveillance applications don't have time or room for full sized DVR's, and need something that is small and easy to hide. Also, if you only need one camera to watch your drive way or your office, buying a 4 camera system can be overkill.

The Combination Receiver and DVR is a 2.4GHz wireless receiver that has a built-in SD card digital video recorder. It receives video from 2.4GHz wireless indoor or outdoor cameras, and records the video to the SD card. It's very easy to use & set-up; we were recording clear video in less than 10 minutes.

The AVI video records at 320 x 240 resolution at about 10 frames per second. The videos are quite clear, and as long as there is no interference from other 2.4GHz devices, it is clear video that plays at 20-30 fps. It also takes clear 640 x 480 JPG photographs.

Now decide if you want to record indoors, or outdoors. Choices are a small enclosed board camera that is easy to hide in a home or office for indoor applications, and two different outdoor cameras with varying amounts of infrareds for good or great night vision capabilities.

One you decide where you will record, you set up your camera, and run a power cord to it, or connect a rechargeable portable battery supply for applications with no available electricity. They are wireless cameras that operate on the 2.4GHz range, and they will send out a signal, so you don't need a video cable.

Then you decide where you will put the Combination DVR and Receiver. Out of the box, the DVR will start recording the included camera's signal as soon as you plug it in, though you should set it up first. An included video cable allows you to hook the DVR to a TV or VCR, and you can adjust the recording speed, the motion detection, resolution, time/date, etc. You can also view what the camera is seeing, so you make sure it's aimed exactly the way you want.

Then turn it off, set it up where you want to put it, turn on the electricity, or connect a battery, and it will start recording. When you need to view the video, turn it off, remove the SD card, put it in to a SD card reader, and insert in your PC or Mac. The files are AVI format for video & JPG for photos, so they work on any computer.

If you need to record video surveillance at home to watch your cars, flowers, or property, your business, or for field surveillance, and you need something small and cost effective, they you should look further at the Combination Receiver and SD Card DVR with different camera options.
